Lee Callicutt

Maryland

Lee Callicutt has been active in twirling and dancing for over 30 years.  Lee was the 1976 NBTA 16 year old Boys World Champion and the 1978 NBTA Sr. Jazz Dance Champion.  He was a feature twirler with the University of Maryland Marching Band from 1978-1981.  He performed at the 1980 Tangerine Bowl and at Disney World.  Lee was coached in baton by Joyce Gray and Suzanne Eagle.    

Lee coaches Twirling Odyssey baton teams.  Twirling Odyssey has won numerous State, Regional, and National awards.  Most recently, Twirling Odyssey won 2nd and 3rd place awards in the Festival Of The Future team portion of the USTA Nationals in Dayton, OH.  Lee also coaches the 2000 MD State Primary solo, strut, two baton and dance twirl champion.   

Lee teaches baton and dance at the Mt. Airy Studio of Dance.He is a certified coach and Level II judge for USTA and a certified member of Dance Masters of America. Lee is employed full time with Summerfield Suites Hotel as an Account Manager.   

Lee has been married for almost 20 years to his wife Kim, and they have 2 children, Samantha 18 and Tabetha 16.  Lee and his family live in Germantown, MD.

Dennis Kaminski

Wisconsin

Dennis P. Kaminski, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has been twirling since age 7.  He started twirling because of a suggestion by his first grade teacher (at the end of first grade), to do something for better coordination - so being he loved parades and his mother had twirling lessons that she won on the Public TV Auction from Marcy Daley Blaufuss he started lessons the summer after first grade.  It also resulted in better memorization skills for school work.Dennis has won many state and national male solo titles; some which are Juvenile, Junior, Senior and Collegiate men’s champion at AYOP, along with a national duet championship with sister Jackie, military march and drum major national titles for many years.  He was a silver medalists at the Junior Olympics, Houston, TX. He was a bell player and rifle spinner for the Daley Debutantes Baton & Drum Corps and now assists with the corps.  Dennis has lead the Daley Debutantes to the Kick-Off Classic in New York, twice, St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Ireland, twice, twirled at the Sugar Bowl,  and marched years of St. Patrick’s Day Parades in Chicago.  He went to Poland for three weeks to teach baton, flag and rifle spinning.  He has taught for the Milwaukee Public Schools Recreation Department and currently teaches for the Muskego Park & Recreation Department.  Dennis travels nationally as a twirling judge and pageant judge. Dennis has been a choreographer for pageants in eight states and is currently the associate pageant director for Wisconsin National TeenAge Scholarship and Wisconsin National Pre-Teen Achievement Program.  He has judged for Miss America preliminaries and was a national judge for the National Pre-Teen Achievement Program in Orlando, Florida.  He has recently developed a new twirling bag and working on a new design of  twirling shoes.

Susan Orr

Indiana

Susan Orr, a graduate of Indiana University, has enjoyed a career surrounded by children.  She has been a junior and senior high school teacher, a modeling instructor, and the author of BATON TWIRLING UNLIMITED, a fully illustrated instruction book.  Susan is an accredited National Baton Twirling Association teacher and judge who has worked throughout the United States, England, and Western Europe.  She has been featured in WHO'S WHO IN BATON TWIRLING, and has served as president of the Indiana Council of Twirling Teachers and Judges.
Since 1973, Susan has owned and operated an instruction center featuring all types of modeling, strutting, and twirling lessons.  Many of her students have become contest champions, capturing state and world titles, while others have become leaders in their high schools and college bands.  To help prepare students for leadership roles in twirling as in life, Susan stresses the importance the importance of good sportsmanship and emphasizes a team spirit so that each student can do her best and also help others to advance.

 

Bonnie Peddicord 

 Arizona

 

NBTA coach and judge for 35 years. Began my twirling career in Balto. Md. where I competed individually and with one of the original Military Corps on the east coast. Featured twirler and choreographer with the NFL Colts from 1963- 1978. I have taught throughout the United States and Germany. A staff judge for NBTA Nationals for over 25 years. Students and groups have won state, regional and national titles. Several students have gone on to become featured twirlers at top colleges and universities performing at the Rose Bowl, Fiesta Bowl and professional games. Helped develop modeling style and techniques for NBTA and along with others helped to establish the current guidelines now being used.

Moved to Tucson in 1980. Actively involved with women's ministries for my church and an active participant with "International Friends" for the University of AZ, where we have enjoyed being a "host family" for students from Germany and Japan so far. I enjoy tennis, hiking, watching professional football, warm weather, travel and family time. Will be married 30 years in May, 2000 with a son Brian 27 and daughter Jill 15.

 

Dori Robertson

Defiance, Ohio

 

Dori is a former competitor with WTA winning State and Regional titles.She also twirled with the Twirladiers Parade and Show Corps, Twirl and Dance/Twirl teams that had also won numerous Regional, State and National Titles.

Dori has been a WTA Licensed Teacher for 20 years and a Judge for 15.  She is  the Instructor of A New Dimension Dance/Twirl and Twirl Teams, which have won State, Regional and National titles. With numerous individuals also taking top honors through WTA, Dori has also coached the winner of the 1999 Miss High School Majorette, that is an event sponsored through WTA.

Along with teaching teams and individuals Dori has also instructed and coached several area High School, Majorette and Flag Lines for the last 20 years. Even though choreographing High School Lines and Competitive Teams is Dori’s specialty, she also works with individuals, beginners through advanced.

 

Kelli  Russell

New York

 

Kelli is a former Miss College Majorette of America and NBTA World Open
Solo Champion. She was the first baton twirler to win the Preliminary Talent
Award at the Miss America pageant. As Miss New York State she was a Top 10
finalist in the Miss America Pageant. Kelli was a baton twirling Goodwill
Ambassador to Peru and twirled in a Rowntree TV commercial in the United Kingdom.


She has been a baton teacher and coach for over 24 years. Her students
have won State, Regional, National, and World championship awards. Kelli has
also been a judge for over 20 years and served as a judge at the World Baton
Twirling Championships in Amsterdam, Holland and Montichiari, Italy.

 

Kelli is married and has two beautiful children, one of which is the reigning NBTA Juvenile Miss Majorette of America

 

 

Stephane Thomas

France

 

Stephan Thomas is 24 and from France.  He has been twirling for 17 years and is now an official NBTA coach. Stephane started twirling when he was 6 with his 2 sisters.  
From 1988 to 1999 he has won (NBTA) several times the champion of France in one baton, two batons and dance solo.  He has also represented France for Europeans and Worlds for 11 years.  He won the two baton European Champion (senior boys) in 1994 & 1995, dance solo in 1997. He also placed in the top 6 almost every year from 1989 to 1999. I placed 3rd in the Worlds 1993 in solo. Stephane also won the "Baton d'Or" in France in 1997.  He started coaching in 1996 and loves it!  He teaches grade 1, 2, 3 and dance twirl seminars.
